Music has been an intrinsic part of my life for as long as I can remember. Instrumental music started at the age of 6 with the piano and moved on with the trumpet, guitar and upright bass. Of the different instruments, the guitar was the one that captivated and inspired me to find out how it worked musically.
Through the course of my musical adventure I have been fortunate to study with several individuals who not only instructed but also inspired and guided me too understand and embrace music on a different level. The first influential instructor was my classical teacher in college John Hill, who opened my eyes and ears to the classical guitar masters. Later I was fortunate enough to study with jazz master Jimmy Bruno, who challenged my understanding of the fret board as well as my ears.
I have also been blessed to work and learn from some truly inspired performers including Bassist extraordinaire Gerald Veasley and vocalist Patti Austin, as well as many others.
